Spring is just around the corner, which means one thing: More J-dramas, please! As the season shifts and the days grow longer and warmer, fans of Japanese entertainment can look forward to a fresh wave of captivating stories on Netflix. The arrival of spring not only brings blooming flowers and pleasant weather but also a new lineup of Japanese movies, J-dramas, and anime.

I've curated a short(but sweet) list of Japanese content that you should definitely keep an eye out for when they do release in the next few days and weeks. Also, I highly recommend checking out Netflix's "New and Popular" section, which outlines upcoming releases.

J-dramas

Straight to Hell

Straight to Hell chronicles the ascent of Kazuko Hosoki, a woman who rises from poverty in postwar Japan by transforming herself within the nightlife scene before becoming the nation's most renowned fortune teller. As her influence expands—accompanied by wealth, fame, and power—sinister rumors emerge regarding manipulation, deceit, and potential connections to the criminal underworld. The series delves into whether she was a talented visionary or a perilous impostor, uncovering the concealed, contentious life behind her public image.

Movies

Soul Mate

Soul Mate tells the story of Ryu Narutaki, a young man burdened by a difficult past, who departs from Japan. During an unexpected encounter overseas, he is rescued by Johan Hwang, a Korean boxer. As they develop a profound emotional connection, the two journey through cities such as Berlin, Seoul, and Tokyo, confronting challenges of trauma, distance, and time. Over ten years, their relationship transforms into a significant, transformative romance that challenges destiny and healing.

Anime

The Ramparts of Ice

"The Ramparts of Ice" focuses on a reserved high school girl who finds it difficult to connect with others because of her guarded nature. Upon joining a small social group, she gradually starts to open up, developing delicate friendships that test her emotional defenses. The series delves into themes of loneliness, vulnerability, and the gradual journey of learning to trust.

One Piece: Elbath Arc

The wait is finally over! One Piece is back! In the Elbaph Arc of One Piece, Monkey D. Luffy and the Straw Hat crew land on the legendary island of giants, where they encounter ancient warrior traditions and uncover powerful secrets. As tensions mount between factions on the island, the crew finds themselves caught in a conflict that could alter alliances and uncover deeper truths about the world’s history—and Luffy’s fate.
